Is Veganism for you?

Did you know that, according to a 2018 study by comparethemarket.com, it found that roughly 7% of British people are vegan and 14% are vegetarian?

Beyoncé and Jay Z are the latest top profile celebrities who are advocating for everyone to change to a plant-based diet in the name of global importance. They have written:

“We all have a responsibility to stand up for our health and the health of the planet. Let’s take this stand together. Let’s spread the truth. Let’s make this mission a movement.

They’re not the first to turn to veganism and they won’t be the last. The vegan industry is booming, and it doesn’t look it will be slowing down any time soon.

What are the concerns with Veganism?

Many people are concerned with the nutritional factor of going vegan, for instance how can they make sure they’re taking in the right nutrients and won’t get a deficiency if they cut out meat which they’ve eaten all their lives? This is a myth. You can still get a healthy dose of protein from everyday vegan meals. Protein rich vegan foods are peanut butter, porridge, 3 bean salad, beans on toast, hummus, tofu, mince, cashew or almond nut butter, quinoa etc.

What are the reasons for turning Vegan?

More and more people are turning to a plant-based life for either health or ethical reasons, or both! According to Veganuary.com a few reasons for why everyone should give veganism a go are:

Reduces the suffering of billions of animals
Helps our plant
Discover exciting and delicious food
Feel fantastic!
